FAQ: How to Create a Multilingual Event in Invitario

Can Participants Change Their Language Themselves?

Yes. If multiple languages are enabled for an event, participants can change their language directly on the event website. Future event communications will then be displayed in the newly selected language.

What Happens If No Language Is Assigned to a Guest?

If no language is assigned to a guest, Invitario uses the event’s Preferred Language as the fallback.
Set the Preferred Language before you begin translating your event content:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General Settings.
  3. Open the Advanced tab.
  4. Select a Preferred Language.

Can I Add or Change Translations After My Event Is Active?

Yes. You can add, edit, or update translations at any time, even after the event has been set to Active.

Does Translate with AI Overwrite Existing Translations?

No. Translate with AI does not overwrite existing translations. The feature only generates translations for language fields that are currently empty.

How Do I Translate Options in a Registration Form?

In Invitario, you can translate the options used in single-select and multi-select registration fields.
To translate selection options:
  1. Open Registration and select Forms.
  2. Open the Form Fields tab.
  3. Find the field whose options you want to translate.
  4. Select Edit Translation next to Options.
  5. Enter the translated options for each language in the same order.
  6. Save your changes.
Keeping the options in the same order across all languages ensures that the corresponding choices remain aligned.

How Do Multilingual Events Affect Conditional Fields in Registration Forms?

For multilingual events, conditions must account for every language version of an answer. If a field should only appear when a guest selects a specific answer, the condition must include every translated value of that answer.
Example:
Suppose the question “Are you bringing a guest?” is available in German, English and Spanish. Depending on their selected language, guests may answer with Yes, Ja, or Sí. The condition therefore needs to include all three stored values:
  1. customField124086 = "yes" OR customField124086 = "ja" OR customField124086 = "si"
This ensures that the conditional field is displayed correctly regardless of the guest’s selected language.
