Why is an e-mail address displayed as ‘To be checked’ or ‘Incorrect’?

Guests/Contacts are listed under "To be checked Email address" or "With faulty Email address" when a "bounce" is recorded. In this case, an email could not be delivered (it was "bounced back", hence the term "bounce"). These bounces can be tracked by the software.

A "bounce" does not always indicate a faulty email address; it can also be due to a temporary issue, such as the recipient's mailbox being full.

For this reason, the software distinguishes between "to be checked" and "faulty" email addresses (see Cockpit):
  1. To be checked email addresses have recorded a bounce in one or at most two consecutive deliveries.
  2. Faulty email addresses have recorded a bounce in three consecutive deliveries. After three bounces, the software assumes the email address is indeed faulty and excludes it from all future mailings.
When a to be checked/faulty email address of a guest is changed, the bounce counter is automatically reset.

The bounce counter is also automatically reset for a to be checked email address if no further bounce is recorded in a subsequent delivery.
