Macros in mailings

You can use macros to insert basic guest data, personalised salutations, links to pages, dynamic contents, images, files and personalised PDFs into mailings.

The macro commands are located in the bottom row of the Mailing Editor.

The “Google Map” and “Icon Bar” macros can be inserted directly:
Doing so means that you will be adding a Google Map and the Icon Bar with the basic event data to the e-mailing.

All of the other macros are provided under separate category headings:

  1. Macros - Registration:
Registration: Inserts a personalised link into the event registration page.
Register now: This link will allow guests to directly register for the event in the email.
Deregister now: This link will allow guests to directly unregister from the event in the email.
These links can also be inserted in the form of buttons.

  2. Macros - Event:
Contains all of the macros that contain information from the > Settings.
We recommend using these macros in particular if you are planning to duplicate the event or are creating a template.

  3. Macros - Guest:
Contains all of the macros used for dynamically inserting guest data.
This data includes the master data, registration data, additional guest data, personalised salutation as well as information from any custom fields.

  4. Macros - Ticket:
Contains all of the macros for directly integrating the individual QR Code into the mail, the direct-link to the online ticket,
the link for the ticket preview page and the button for the ticket preview page.

  5. Macros - Ticketing:
These macros will only be shown if ticketing has been activated and contains all of the relevant macros.

  6. Macros - Website:
Contains the links to all of the pages set up under > Website, to system pages and custom pages.
Make sure to always use the links provided under “Macros - Website” for inserting links to your event website!
  1. Macros - Contents:
Contains all of the macros for integrating the dynamic contents set up under > Dynamic contents.

  2. Macros - Files:
Contains all of the macros for integrating the files uploaded to the > File manager.
Images inserted directly into a mailing’s text field must not exceed 630px. We recommend always checking that images have the correct size before uploading them to the > File manager.
  1. Macros - PDF:
Contains all of the macros for integrating the personalised PDFs created under > PDF. When integrating PDFs with the first option, “PDF (dynamic)”, PDFs will be displayed in line with the relevant restrictions: This means that the relevant first PDF in the list that meets the category restrictions of the relevant recipient will be displayed. You can also select PDF’s directly and integrate them as static content.
You can also insert macros using the # symbol!
If, for example, you wanted to insert the macro for the event name, you would have to enter “#name” into the text. You will then be shown all of the macros that contain “name”, such as event name, first name, last name, etc. If you then click on the event name, the event name macro will be automatically inserted into the text in the place of “#name”.
